Connections, explained: MCP first, long-tail second

How AgentNava wires agents into the tools you already use, and the tiered model that decides which integration an agent reaches for.

Product

An agent is only as useful as the tools it can reach. AgentNava connects to the software you already run through a tiered model, and the order of those tiers is deliberate.

The tiers

  • Provider-native MCP first. When a tool ships a first-party MCP server, we use it. It is the most direct, best-maintained path.
  • Managed OAuth for the long tail. For the hundreds of SaaS tools without their own MCP server, a managed broker handles the OAuth so a connection is one click.
  • Declarative HTTP tools last. For anything else, a simple declarative tool definition wires up a REST endpoint.

Why order matters

Reaching for the leftmost available tier keeps connections native, well-scoped, and easy to audit. The agent gets the cleanest integration a provider offers, and you get a connections list that reads like the tools you know, not a pile of raw API keys.
